I can’t believe what is happening to us in this country. I love America don’t get me wrong. Something has got to give in this economy or we are all in trouble. I mean these companies have been ripping us off for years and no one seems to mind….I beg to differ. WE DO MIND and its about time we all do the right thing and that is to let them die. Lets make room for new companies by shredding our economy and weeding out the horses asses who have been stealing from us and have gotten us into this mess to begin with.
The same can be said for local organizations as well. You know the ones who try to control the businesses by threats and actions which are anti competition. Banks which are anti competiton in our area threaten us all by attempting to control businesses by revoking or foreclosing on assets they chose to. Real Estate firms and other companies fall into this catagory as well. If you have ever had to pay a “transaction fee” and didn’t get an exact answer as to what that fee is for, that firm is breaking the law. Those folks with the orange signs have done this repeatedly costing local home buyers and sellers hundreds of thousands of dollars. These businesses are not friends of the community just as our large banks and insurance companies are not friends to our country. If we stand for bailing them out we only complicate the issues by allowing them to control our countries financial systems and further draining us all with their greed and bad will.
STOP THEM BY WRITING TO YOUR state representitives and take action by putting your money someplace other than wall street.
I reccomend the purchase of LAND! There not making any more of it which makes for constant demand, stabilizing the value. Your not going to get rich buying land in the short term, however, you will not lose your ass in the next few months either.
These are strong words, and right now this country needs strength to stand up against greed and corperate thugs who really just want your money!

The Lake Delton Fisheries Restoration Project is officially underway, and community members and businesses can help the restocking efforts.

Project leaders Ben Hobbins, president and CEO of Lake Resources Group Inc., and TV and radio personality Dan Small told the public about the project during a press conference at the Highway A breach Thursday.

Hobbins said the restocking, realistically, is going to be a three-year project, but it will give people who want to donate funds for the project a chance to sponsor reefs and fish in the lake.

The Web site www.restorelakedeltonfisheries.com is up and running, and will be able to accept donations to help the restocking efforts shortly. Donors will be able to give in $15 increments towards the purchase of reefs and fish via the Web site, Small said.

So someday someone might be able to find “their reef” by GPS and have the chance to fish on it, he said.

The restocking effort is being looked at as a pilot project. If all goes well and their efforts are able to raise money, restocking projects like this could extend to other Wisconsin, and perhaps nationwide, fisheries that also need help with restocking costs.

Tim Larson, the lake’s fish biologist and Department of Natural Resources fish supervisor for the Lower Wisconsin River Basin, said the fish restocking will be a three-phase project.

First, after the Dell Creek Dam closes its gates in December and the lake starts to slowly refill, unwanted fish species will come with the flowing waters. So the first phase of the project will to be chemically treat and eliminate those rough fish, like carp.

The phase will cost approximately $20,000, and the money will be needed shortly, Larson said.

The second phase will be to restock Lake Delton with fish. Village of Lake Delton Trustee, and former DNR employee, Gordy Priegel said the lake will first be stocked with three to five million minnows. Then, next spring fingerling fish, mostly bass and pan fish, will be purchased and stocked.

Larson said that phase will cost about $200,000 because the fish will have to be bought. Deadly fish viruses in area waters will prohibit the DNR from simply bringing in fish from other fisheries to stock the lake.

The last phase will be the purchase of fish-friendly reefs for the lake bottom. Larson said that will likely be done after the lake is filled because the funding won’t be there beforehand.

The village will give $15,000 toward the reef efforts, but it is strapped for cash because of multiple other post-disaster projects, Priegel said.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency also turned down an application that would have supplied some funding for the restocking efforts.

From time to time I write articles and opinions about the community that I live in. Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton of course. Lately I have been sickened by the WDVCB and thier attempts to CONTROL local business just like the MOB.
The following was an editorial printed by the DELLS EVENTS…
***The new by-laws might make such rifts permanent. The proposed by-laws specify that a business can be denied membership or the membership terminated if the business does anything detrimental to the bureau or one of its members. The proposed by-laws do not define detrimental.

One business wrote to the Events expressing concern about that section of the by-laws but not signing a name. The letter states, “The VCB is trying to change its by-laws so that the board of directors will have the power to decide who gets to join. If you complain too much about the VCB’s policies you will be in danger of being denied membership.” The letter concludes, “Needless to say, I will not put my name on this for fear of being thrown out of the VCB.”**
If they have the control to decide who can join, they will also have the control over the very structure of the business community. Paving the way to effectively “take out” businesses which compete, or argue about things like practices and fees. There is a reason for these folks wanting to strangle the local business economy while the economy is not so good. It assures they will have their pockets lined with fresh amounts of money.

NO one wants to give up the kind of control they are asking for, and its been well known that in this town businesses and their owners badmouth and bash others in attempts to control who is willing to patronize.

I am willing to play the odds and belive that most people can draw the correct conclusion about me. If you know me you know I am your friend and would do anything to help you, if you don’t like me, chances are you have tried to take advantage of me or have been confronted for spreading lies and gossip about me. Pretty basic really. Some folks have put spin on some of the things I have stated just to make me out to be against certain people. One person took one of my articles completely out of context stating to people I was bashing Tom Deihl. Not the case at all, Mr. Deihl has done a ton of things to improve this community and did a number of things to help folks who were impacted by the disaster of Lake Delton. The article was merely to define what I thought the goals of the folks around the lake should have been, and as it turns out my goals were pretty close to the goals of Mr. Deihl. I don’t attack people without cause, and that is a promise. So people bad mouth me, I don’t care. Most people will consider the source and know they are nothing but scum looking to make them selves feel good.

I can tell you there are a few local realtors who I am especially against for their roles in plots against me stemming from my attempts to move to another firm in town, other than that I pretty much just want to advocate for what is good and decent for the area and its business.

Not every business owner feels this way or is willing to “risk it all” in order to be heard. Most decent people really don’t have time for the art of taking advantage of people because they are too busy working for a living.
If your a member of the WDVCB, which I am not, you should reject ANYTHING that allows for businesses to be discriminated against. This kind of policy is created to impose a do or die atmoshpere which is completely insane and once again shows the kind of GREED and manipulation we are dealing with here.
I guess If this new set of bylaws gets passed, I don’t think I will ever have to worry about becoming a member.
The number one trait of people who think they are better than you and I is control, and doesn’t this smell like, act like, and look like control? YES it does.

Bottom line is, its worse for business owners to lay down and be taken advantage of then to fight for what is best in light of being persicuted by those who will do anything for a buck. So business owners you need to stand up to those folks your scared of, know that your doing the right thing, and stop this insane manipulation before you end up giving all of your money to the WDVCB. What is the point of being in business if your going to give all of your money away?
As a community we should be unwavering and solid as a rock to prevent this kind of ANTI-COMPETITION activity.
IF MEMBERS ARE WILLING TO ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THE CREDIBILITY OF NON-MEMBER BUSINESS FOR CONTROL, CONSIDER THE SOURCE, THEIR GOALS( which should be pretty transparent at this point), AND BOYCOTT THIER ACTIONS BY BOYCOTTING THIER BUSINESSES.

I have been in real estate for the better part of 10 years now and I have never experienced a market where its very hard for sellers to entice buyers. In fact I have noticed that the “trickery” has increased substantially over the last year with no end in sight. What sellers need today to get thier homes sold is an open mind with respect to pricing. Homes that are priced correctly will still be selling while the ones that are over priced or not competitively priced will not see activity.
We are in the meat of a buyers market, where you don’t always have to give up your price….but it helps. Adding value can be as easy as staging your home for sale, doing some fix-it work around the house before listing it, or as simple as having your home inspected by a professional and including that with your listing package.
Any way you look at it you must add value, or the price will go down. The value in todays market is receding at an alarming rate, 11.4% in some areas over the last couple of months, which means you have to add 11.4% more bang for that buck, or reduce your price.
If your a buyer this isn’t always good news, however, its more favorable than just a short year ago.

Well it looks like the folks at the D.O.T. have an idea of what they would like to do to fix the lake. That is great!
This summer started off on a good note and even though the lake is gone, some people still brave high gas prices, and increasing worrys about job loss and other factors to show up here at one of the state’s best playgrounds. Traffic downtown has been a bit sluggish, but still weekends seem busy.
People all around the area can benifit from all the media attention the area has been getting, however, even the local economic indicators are showing signs of turmoil.
Wisconsin Dells Real Estate sales have been quite slow this year, which I am sure is not unlike other area’s of the country. Castle Rock Lake Real Estate has seen a downturn as well.
“I think folks are really just waiting out the storm and waiting for lower gas prices to help spur the economy”, said Mike Polubinsky from Rivers Edge Resort.

I wanted to point out a couple of things that I believe have been overlooked by some of the southsayers out there. The dells area is not really experiencing a lack of visitors, more a lack of spontanious visits. As a local business person with mulitiple web interests I tend to watch the internet for specific types of traffic and based on that make certain advertizing and spending decisions. This year the dells has seen one of the worst disaster’s in history with the draining of Lake Delton.

No one is overlooking $4 GAS for one second. Gas will continue to go up thru 2008 and potentially even higher as long as the arab world believes we will spend that much. In the past, oil companies in the US quit buying oil after the arabs decided to mess with us and even embargo’d nations to get them to stop gouging. Well our economy is such now that many of us are forced to drive, and drive a lot. We have positioned our selves right in front of the global push for muslem extremeism, and high gas prices. If you don’t see a relationship, open your eyes. The second any oil controling dictator farts oil goes up 5-20 bucks a barrel, that is horsecrap!! Believe me its not going to top until we find better places to get our oil which may take more resources in the short term, but will stabilize over the long haul.
Id like to see us stop using oil all together, and screw every person who is currently investing in our own demise as a country. People like Jim Cramer, say invest in oil… invest in oil, and take advantage of the middle and lower income people in this country SCREW YOU CRAMER. The only way to bring oil back to reality is to stop investing in it completely. HOW? Pull your stocks out of oil companies and put them in places like health care, Bio Tech, and other green forms of business that are actually around to help the people of the world. GOOD NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE.
Oil may not be the be all end all of our troubled economy either, the way people have purchased items on credit and so forth is a huge part of the problem as well. Bankers and politicians who control things like rates and available funding should all be lined up and made accountable for the failure of our entire socioeconomic system. Its not here yet, but the dark clouds are on the horizon and moving in like a strong squall line.

The Dells, is here to stay. Because all it really is a rock formation which is very pretty to look at, and once we are all dead and gone due to global warming and wars over energy it will still be here with out anyone to admire its beauty.
WAKE UP WORLD AND LETS GET RID OF SOME OF THESE POLITICAL SCOUNDRALS WHO CONTINUE TO ROB US BLIND on the local, state and federal levels. Its time to screw the screwer, and on all levels. FIGHT BACK AMERICA its your right!!

Paying more at the pump is not what our economy needs, in fact our global enemies are doing what they can to make sure we are suffering at the pump. Sadly our economic stimulous package did nothing to stimulate the economy,in fact that money could have been used to bring down the price of oil and gas, which would have done something for consumer confidence. This election year we are voting for the president who will live forever as the president who will run this country into the ground, and believe me we are not floating down like a feather either. This morning I watched a show that had some of the leading financial heads of our country discussiong the “mortgage meltdown”, and things like real estate or lack of real estate sales.
These folks all had the same answer, and its not good. We are on our way to the second great depression, which will be worse than the first. To avoid this financial disaster we need to scrap our entire financial system and start back at square one, and the sooner the better as its going to happen anyway. Here is the latest rundown on fundraising:

• Noah’s Ark Waterpark will be donating $2 for every paid admission on Saturday, June 21, with the money going toward the Lake Delton Flood Relief Fund.

• Both Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf and Riverview Park & Waterworld plan to contribute 10 percent of their proceeds from Saturday, June 21 to the Wisconsin chapter of the American Red Cross to benefit those affected by the recent flooding.

• The Rick Wilcox Magic Theater will hold a fundraiser on Sunday, June 22 at 2 p.m., with proceeds going to benefit the families whose homes were lost during the storms. Theater namesake and master illusionist Rick Wilcox is requesting a $20 contribution for the fund, which is being administered by the Bank of Wisconsin Dells. If reservations exceed capacity, a second show will be added at 5 p.m.

• The Dells Comedy Club - Wild 4 Hypnosis Show is hosting a comedy benefit on Saturday, July 19 at 7 p.m. featuring comedians from around the Midwest. The 90-minute show is free, with organizers asking for a $10 donation at the door. Proceeds will go toward rebuilding Lake Delton.

Lake Delton took at least one step closer to good today as volounteers from all over the area pitched in to clean the junk from the bottom.
Spider and I left from Starlight at around 8:30 and managed to get stuck in the mud on the way to registration.
A lot of items were found but mostly was made up of boat anchors and pop/beer cans and bottles. It seems we are still willing to do the right thing when its needed. Big thanks to Bob Sprysl for organizing the event and providing tools, water, and food.
